Visa Requirements for Uganda

Most visitors to Uganda require a visa. Review Uganda’s current visa policy to plan your travel to Kampala for the 32nd ARSO GA in June 2026.

Important Notice
Most visitors to Uganda must obtain an e-Visa before travelling. Uganda issues electronic visas online via visas.immigration.go.ug. Passengers issued an e-Visa must travel with a printed e-Visa confirmation.

Diplomatic / Service Passports
Holders of diplomatic or service passports from India, Italy, Namibia and South Africa do not require a visa for up to 3 months.
e-Visa Required — All Other Countries

Apply for Uganda e-Visa Online

If your country is not listed as visa-free, apply for an e-Visa before travelling to Uganda.

  • Visit the official Uganda e-Visa portal: visas.immigration.go.ug
  • Create an account and complete the online application form
  • Upload required documents: valid passport, passport photo, travel itinerary, conference booking confirmation
  • Pay the visa fee online by card or mobile money
  • Receive your e-Visa by email — print a copy and carry it at all times
  • Present the printed e-Visa at the port of entry alongside your passport
Processing Time
Apply at least 2–3 weeks before your travel date. Request an official ARSO/UNBS invitation letter to support your application.
East African Tourist Visa — USD 100

90-Day East African Tourist Visa

A 90-day East African Tourist Visa (USD 100) is available on arrival, valid for Uganda, Kenya, and Rwanda. This visa must first be used in the country that issued it, allowing multiple entries across the three countries within 90 days.

Note: Somalia nationals must hold a biometric passport to enter or transit Uganda. Entry and transit is refused without a biometric passport.

Delegates requiring an official invitation letter for visa applications should contact the ARSO Secretariat or UNBS at info@arso-oran.org. Include your full name, passport number, nationality, and title/position when requesting a letter.
Passport Validity
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your date of arrival in Uganda.
Yellow Fever Certificate
Uganda requires proof of Yellow Fever vaccination for travellers from endemic countries. Carry your International Certificate of Vaccination.
Currency
Uganda Shilling (UGX). USD widely accepted. ATMs available at Entebbe Airport and throughout Kampala.
Airport
Entebbe International Airport (EBB). Approximately 40 minutes from Speke Resort Munyonyo. Airport transfer can be arranged through UNBS upon registration.
